What Actually Happened
Philly Girls Jump, an initiative co-founded by Tanisha Rinehardt and a high school friend, began as a way to encourage physical activity through Double Dutch. A Facebook invitation for a small gathering unexpectedly drew over 2,000 attendees, according to Rinehardt. Rasheedah McLean is also noted as being involved with the organization. Philly Girls Jump has since become an established community presence. The organization is hosting its summer season finale event on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Vare Playground, located at 2600 Morris St. This free event will feature music, local vendors, and a Double Dutch contest offering a cash prize.
